You're invited to the 21st Annual Gowanus Open Studios in Brooklyn during which over 350 artists, including Columbia alumna Ella Yang '86BUS open their studios to the public and local venues showcase artists. There will be an enormous range of contemporary art being made today by mature and younger artists, and this is a wonderful opportunity to see the work and engage in conversations with the creators. Your visit will be made even more enjoyable by the large number of interesting coffee shops, restaurants, and bars that have sprung up in Gowanus over the past several years. Let's also not forget the proximity of our very own Superfund site, the Gowanus Canal, which has been a muse for a few local artists. Studios will be open from noon to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday, plus there are events and parties starting Friday evening. Convenient to many different subway lines and street parking is generally available.
