María Rivero González was born in 1983 to a working family. She holds a bachelor’s degree
in International Relations from the Tecnológico de Monterrey. In 1998 she discovered her true vocation, the year in which her family planted their first vineyard in the Valley of Parras, Coahuila. Originally designed for personal use, Maria saw the enormous potential and commerciality of the vineyard.
With a keen eye on preserving Parras’ traditional wine making practices coupled with innovation, Maria became a young CEO in an industry—and world—dominated by men. With Maria at the helm since its inception in 2007, the Rivero González brand now adds multi-national to its long list of accolades with the creation of RGNY on the North Fork of Long Island.
In 2010 Maria began her education at the International Wine Center in New York City, where she obtained her advanced diploma from the WSET as a sommelier. That same year, she also enrolled in the French Culinary Institute where she specialized in wine pairing.
